Timeliner on your computer, built for big files

The same workspace you use in the browser, in an app that handles heavy footage better: transfers that resume instead of restarting, keep running with the window closed, and take whole folders at once.

What the desktop app adds

It is a beta: features arrive in updates as they are ready, and the app updates itself.

Big files that pick up where they stopped

Uploads and downloads of large video files resume after a dropped connection or a restart instead of starting again from zero.

Transfers keep going in the background

Close the window and your uploads and downloads carry on from the tray. You get a notification when they finish.

Drag and drop whole folders

Drop a folder of footage onto a project and its structure comes with it. Drag files out of Timeliner straight onto your desktop.

ProRes preview

Open ProRes and other edit-ready files for a quick look without waiting for a browser-friendly copy.

Multiple windows

Keep a review open in one window and the board in another, side by side or across two screens.

Links open in the app

Timeliner links from email, Slack or WhatsApp open straight in the desktop app, on the right task.

Questions about the desktop app

Yes. Timeliner for Desktop is in beta for Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit). It runs the same Timeliner workspace you use in the browser and adds what a browser tab does badly: resumable uploads and downloads for big video files, transfers that keep running in the background, drag-and-drop folders, ProRes preview, multiple windows and links that open straight in the app.

Not yet. The macOS version is coming soon; the beta starts on Windows. Until then, Timeliner works fully in Safari or Chrome on a Mac at timeliner.io/app.

Use the button on this page to ask to join the Windows beta, or email contact@timeliner.io. We open it up in small batches while it is in beta.

No. Everything in Timeliner works in the browser at timeliner.io/app, and your clients never need to install anything to review and approve. The desktop app is for the people on your team who move a lot of big files.

No. The desktop app uses your existing Timeliner account and plan, and your storage, members and permissions do not change. The resumable big-file transfers are for team members (admins, supervisors and editors). Guests and clients can sign in to the app too, but their uploads and downloads go the normal way, as in the browser.

For big files it is built to be more reliable: transfers resume instead of restarting, and they keep running when the window is closed. We are measuring real transfer speeds during the beta and will publish numbers once we have them, not before.

Yes. The app checks for updates in the background and asks you to restart when a new version is ready. It never restarts in the middle of a transfer.
Anything else, email us at contact@timeliner.io.
